Cert IV in Celebrancy

There are new requirements for registering as a marriage celebrant.

From February 3 2010, a person seeking registration as a celebrant must hold the new Certificate IV in Celebrancy (detailed below).

While there is some overlap with the ‘old’ Plan, conduct and review a marriage ceremony unit, there is significantly more work in achieving the Certificate IV.

Certificate IV in Celebrancy - CHC 42608 - Marriage Celebrant Training Course

 This qualification covers the broad based skills and knowledge that underpin a range of celebrancy roles, as well as addressing specific legislative responsibilities of marriage celebrants and provides a range of electives representing different aspects of celebrancy work.

Celebrants may specialise in a range of areas of celebrancy as well as developing skills to manage their own business operations.

13 Units are required for award of this qualification including:

  • 5 Core Units
  • 8 Elective Units

Electives required for Marriage Celebrancy

The following electives are required to apply for authorisation as a marriage celebrant with the Commonweath Australian Attorney-General's Department.
CHCCEL402A Establish and maintain knowledge of legal responsibilities of a marriage celebrant Note: pre-requisite: CHCCEL401B)
(Pre-requisite CHCCEL402A required for the following 3 units)
CHCCEL403A Develop an effective relationship with a marrying couple
CHCCEL404A Plan a marriage ceremony in line with legal requirements
CHCCEL405A Conduct and review a marraige ceremony in line with legal requirements

Delivery:

The Certificate IV in Celebrancy will be delivered face-to-face over seven (7) two-day workshops. Delivery dates are:

Workshop 6 October 20 -21 October 13 -14
Workshop 7 November 24 - 25 November 9 - 11

 

 

Please note: Workshop 2 - 7 dates are subject to change and will be confirmed on AssentTECS online registration system.

Assessment:
The course is assessed via a combination of written and practical tasks. Learners will need to have access to a computer and the internet.

Learners will complete theory information during the workshops and will be provided with assessment tasks to complete prior to the following session.

 

Fees:
Certificate IV in Celebrancy is $2145.00

 

Fee comprises:

$150.00 non-refundable registration fee

$200.00 learning resources

$1795.00 tuition fee

 

Payment Schedule:

Seven (7) payments of $285.00

First payment: $150.00 registration fee + $285.00 - $435.00 due on enrolment

Subsequent payments of $285.00 are to be made prior to attendance at each face-to-face workshop
